Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
10 November 1999 to 19 November 1999
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The existing program ClogP 3.4, (Pomona College Medicinal Chemistry Project, Claremont, California) does not provide the possibility to calculate octanol/water partition coefficients of salts and mixtures. Therefore the partition coefficient was not calculated. Estimation from the Saturation Concentrations was instead performed.
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
estimation method (solubility ratio)
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
-5
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
5.5
Details on results:
The n-octanol/water partition coefficient of the test substance estimated from its solubility in water and in n-octanol, is estimated to be log Kow = -5.0

Conclusions:
The n-octanol/water partition coefficient of the test substance estimated from its solubility in water and in n-octanol, is estimated to be log Kow = -5.0
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient n-octanol/water of the test substance Reactive Orange DYPR 1410 (batch DYPR 1410 from August 17, 1998) has been determined in accordance with the guideline 92/63/EEC appendix A.8 and in compliance with GLP, from its solubility in water and in n-octanol.

It was found to be log Kow = -5.0
