Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A key study for LaCl3 was identified of which data could be read across to La(NO3)3. Dietzmann (2010) reported a 28-d NOEC for development rate and emergence of the chironomid Chironomus riparius of >= 1320 mg La/kg sediment dw. This NOEC corresponds to a NOEC of >= 3088 mg/kg sediment dw when expressed as La(NO3)3.

Additional information

Only one study was identified as reliable (Klimisch 2 because read across from LaCl3). Dietzmann (2010) performed an OECD 218 study with the chironomid Chironomus riparius. Emergence and development rate remained unaffected up to the highest exposure concentration, yielding a 28-d NOEC of >= 1320 mg/kg sediment dw, based on lanthanum. This lanthanum concentration corresponds to a La(NO3)3 concentration of >= 3088 mg/kg sediment dw.
