- Endpoint:
- oxidising liquids
- Type of information:
- other: expert statement
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 15 March 2012-19 June 2012
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: see 'Remark'
- Remarks:
- In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, oxidising properties study was not performed because there are no chemical groups associated with oxidising properties present in the molecule of the substance. An expert statement rather than a full study was considered sufficient to cover this endpoint. The statement was prepared according to the EC A.21 and UN guidelines and according to the principles of GLP.
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline

- Parameter:
- other: See remarks.
- Remarks on result:
- not measured/tested
- Remarks:
- See any other information on results incl. tables and summary.
- Interpretation of results:
- other: no oxidising properties
- Conclusions:
- The substance was determined to be non-oxidiser.
- Executive summary:
Because the molecular structure of the substance does not contain groups that act as an oxidizing agent, the substance is considered not oxidizing (expert statement in accordance with EC A.21 and UN).
Reference
Expert statement
A test substance is considered an oxidizing substance when a mixture of the substance and cellulose in a 1:1 ratio (by mass) spontaneously ignites or the mean pressure rise time of the mixture is less than or equal to mean pressure rise time of a 1:1 reference mixture (by mass) of 65% aqueous nitric acid and cellulose.
The molecular structure of the test substance or its impurities do not contain groups that act as an oxidizing agent. The oxygen atoms that are present in the molecular structure of the test substance are chemically bonded to silicium or are part of an oxime group.
In conclusion, OS 2600 has no oxidizing properties.
Description of key information
OS2600 was found to be non-oxidising.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Oxidising properties:
- no
Additional information
Key study: Because the molecular structure of the substance does not contain groups that act as an oxidizing agent, the substance is considered not oxidizing (expert statement in accordance with EC A.21 and UN).
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the molecular structure, the test substance was determined to be non-oxidised and therefore, it is not classified in accordance with CLP Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008.
