Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
toxicity to microorganisms
Type of information:
read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Read-across from an analogue substance for which a guideline study (KIimish = 1) is available.
Justification for type of information:
See reporting format for the analogue approach attached.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
read-across source
Nominal and measured concentrations:

Key result
Duration:
28 d
Dose descriptor:
NOEC
Effect conc.:
> 22.2 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
meas. (initial)
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
other: CO2evolution
Remarks on result:
other: Based on a read-across from an analogue for which EC50 > 21.5 mg/L
Conclusions:
Based on the read-across approach from the analogue substance OS1600, the NOEC (28 days) of OS2600 for microorganism toxicity was determined to be 22.2 mg/L.
Executive summary:

Microbial toxicity was derived from an available ready biodegradation test performed with the analogue substance OS1600 in accordance with OECD Guideline 301B. Since in the toxicity control more than 25% degradation occurred within 14 days (32 % based on ThCO2) it was considered that the test substance does not inhibit microbial activity. The NOEC (28d) of OS1600 was determined to be 21.5 mg/L. Based on these results, the read-across approach was applied and the NOEC (28d) of OS2600 for microorganism toxicity was determined to be 22.2 mg/L.

Description of key information

Based on the read-across approach from the analogue substance OS1600, the NOEC (28 days) of OS2600 for microorganism toxicity was determined to be 22.2 mg/L since the test item does not inhibit microbial activity.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
22.2 mg/L

Additional information

Key study: Read-across approach from experimental data on the analogue substance OS1600: Microbial toxicity was derived from an available ready biodegradation test performed with the analogue substance in accordance with OECD Guideline 301B (GLP study). Based on the read-across approach from the analogue substance OS1600 (NOEC = 21.5 mg/L), the NOEC for OS2600 was determined to be 22.2 mg/L for microorganism toxicity.
