Stability :

Phototransfromation in Air :

The atmospheric oxidation half-life of 3-diethylaminophenol was estimated using the level III multimedia model. It was estimated that the substance is not persistent in air medium as the half life period of 3-diethylaminophenol in air is only 0.075 days. This indicates that 3-diethylaminophenol is rapidly phototransformed in air.

Hydrolysis :

The Hydrolysis rate constant of3-diethylaminophenolis estimated to be 0.000000000217847 (217.8470 E-12) cm3/molecule-sec. at half life of the 0.589 Hrs.The estimated half life of the substance indicates that the substance is rapidlyhydrolysable.

Phototransformation in Water :

No experimental data available. As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACH and there is no indication from the CSA on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance (Annex X requirement), no further testing is considered necessary.

Phototransformation in Soil :

No experimental data available. As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACH and there is no indication from the CSA on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance (Annex X requirement), no further testing is considered necessary.

Biodegradation:

Biodegradation in water :

Based on level III fugacity model the half life period of 3-diethylaminophenol was estimated 3-diethylaminophenol was estimated to be 50% biodegradable in water in 38 days (half-life) indicating that 3-diethylaminophenol is readily biodegradable in water since the half life is less than the threshold of 40 days (to qualify the chemical as persistent).

Biodegradation in water and sediment :

Based on level III fugacity model the half life period of 3-diethylaminophenol was estimated. Half life period of 3-diethylaminophenol in water was observed to be 38 days while in sediment it is 340 days.Based on these half life values it is concluded that 3-diethylaminophenol is readily biodegradable in water where as it is non biodegradable in sediment. However, since there is no diffusion of the substance in the sediment as evident from the reported data (0% in sediment) and hence persistence in the sediment compartment is not likely to be critical. The supporting study also shows half life of 3-diethylaminophenol in water and Sediment to be 900 hrs (37.5 days) and 8100 hrs (337.5 days) respectively

Biodegradation in soil :

Based on level III fugacity model the half life period of 3-diethylaminophenol was estimated. Half life period of 3-diethylaminophenol in soil was observed to be 75 days (1800 hrs ). Based on these half life values it is concluded that 3-diethylaminophenol is readily biodegradable (not persistent) in soil since the half life period of 3-diethylaminophenol does not exceeds the criteria of 120 days (to qualify the chemical as persistent)

Bioaccumulation :

Bioaccumulation in Aquatic / Sediment :

Bioaccumulation is the process by which the chemical concentration in an aquatic organism achieves a level that exceeds that in water as a result of chemical uptake through all possible routes of exposure. The relationship between Bioaccumulation and Bioconcentration is that, chemicals that have potential to bioconcentrate also have potential to bioaccumulate.Bioaccumulation is closely related to bioconcentration factor (BCF). The estimated bioconcentration factor (BCF) for 3-diethylaminophenol is 16, which does not exceed the bioconcentration criteria of 2000.

Other Weight of evidence studies indicates that bioconcentration factor (BCF) varies between 12.24 to 21.37. From this BCF values it is concluded that 3-diethylaminophenol is not expected to bioaccumulate in the food chain

Adsorption / desorption :

Soil Adsorption Coefficient i.e Koc value of 3-diethylaminophenol was estimated as 367.6 L/kg {Log Koc (2.5653) } at 25 deg C by means of MCI method. This indicates that 3-diethylaminophenol has moderate adsorption to the organic carbon fraction of the soil and have slow migration potential to groundwater. This Koc value at 20 deg C is equivalent to 294.08L/kg (Log Koc = 2.4684).

Henry's Law constant :

Henry's Law states that at a constant temperature, the amount of a given gas that dissolves in a given type and volume of liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure of that gas in equilibrium with that liquid. Henrys Law Constant of 3-diethylaminophenol at 25 deg C was estimated to be 0.00159 Pa m³/mol
