Description of key information

Reactive Black 039 is considered to be neither readily nor inherently biodegradable.

Additional information

Biodegradability of Reactive Black 039 was assessed by evaluating BOD5/COD ratio. BOD5 was found to be 0 mg O2/g, while COD was 507 mg O2/L. Using these values, the biodegradation of the test substance was estimated to be 0 %. Reactive Black 039 was further assessed for inherent biodegradability in a Zahn-Wellens test, where it was found to be not inherently biodegradable. Taking above information into account, Reactive Black 039 is considered as neither readily nor inherently biodegradable.
