Description of key information

The corrected surface tension of substance on the basis of Harkins-Jordan correction was determined to be 62.5 mN/m according to EU Method A.5.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test is conducted to determine the effect of a compound, on the free surface enthalpy per unit surface area of water.

The calibration factor is determined by measuring the Surface Tension of water and comparing the value obtained in literature. The corrected value is taken from a table compiled on the basis of the Harkins-Jordan correction. This correction factor is dependent on the dimensions of the measurement ring. The surface tension of substance was determined to be 62.5 mN/m.

Data from Huntsman, 2012 study.
