Additional information

This experimental study was published by Moreno-Garrido, 2001. In this publication, the toxicity for green algae Dunaliella salina was determined for 72 h in saltwater. The determined EC50 of quinine sulphate is 14.5 mg/L. The toxicity (LC50, 96 h and chronic toxicity value) is estimated by using ECOSAR v1.11. Lowest EC50 and chronic toxicity value, were observed for green algae by ECOSAR class Benzyl Alcohols at 32.928 g/L and 5.404 g/L, respectively. The calculated values for Neutral Organic Structure Analysis Relationship (baseline toxicity) for green algae are 123 g/L (LC50) and 13.486 g/L (chronic toxicity value). The high values reflect the low toxicity. The EPA recommends that empirical measures provide better results. However, empirical studies have not been done, so that we adapt the prediction.
