Description of key information

For aquatic algae, 15 acute toxicity data points were considered for read-across purposes. Data was available for cobalt dichloride (4 studies), nickel sulphate/nickel sulphate hexahydrate (7 studies), and nickel chloride/nickel chloride hexahydrate (4 studies).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The following lowest acute toxicity values (EC10/EC50/IC50) were reported:

Cobalt dichloride: EC10 0.001 mg/L (C. parvula,pH 8.48, hardness -)

Nickel sulphate/nickel sulphate hexahydrate: IC50 0.1 mg/L (N.muscorum,pH -, hardness -)

Nickel chloride/nickel chloride hexahydrate: EC50 > 0.082 mg/L (P. subcapitata,pH 6-0-7.9, hardness -)
