Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

There are two skin sensitisation studies available for triethoxyisobutylsilane. Both of these studies gave negative results.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
In a guinea pig maximisation study conducted to OECD 406, but not to GLP, triethoxyisobutylsilane was not sensitising to the skin (Pharmatox, 1994).

In a skin sensitisation study (guinea pig maximisation study) conducted using a protocol comparable with OECD 406, but not to GLP (Huntingdon Research Centre Ltd., 1988c) triethoxyisobutylsilane did not elicit a sensitisation reaction. There were no positive control data included in the report.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the two in vivo studies available triethoxyisobutylsilane is not classified for sensitising potential according to Regulation 1272/2008/EC.
