Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are no measured data available on the acute toxicity of Tetrahydro-3-methlyfuran to aquatic invertebrates. However, testing on a closely related analog substance, Tetrahydrofuran (CAS# 109-99-9), has been performed with Daphnia magna according to a protocol equivalent or similar to OECD 202 guideline method under static conditions yielding a 48 hour LC50 value of 3485 mg/L (DuPont, 1980) and according to DIN 38412, part 11, under static conditions yielding a 24 hour EC50 (mobility) of 5930 mg/L (Bringmann, 1982). Applying a safety factor of 2 as suggested in the justification for read across document yields an LC50 value of 1742 mg/L, suggesting a low degree of acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
