Description of key information

Sorbic acid was tested according the method described in the OECD 102 guideline. 

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
134.1 °C

Additional information

The measurements in aluminium crucibles with an aperture showed an endothermic effect in the temperature range of 120 - 150 °C, and an exothermal effect in the temperature range 160 °C - 260 °C with a maximum energy of 108 J/g.

The mean melting point was determined at 134.1 °C.
