Description of key information

Stearic acid, esters with methyl α-D-glucoside is readily biodegradable. The result is supported by read across data to the readily biodegradable Isostearic acid, esters with methyl α-D-glucoside.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Stearic acid, esters with methyl α-D-glucoside is readily biodegradable, based on the test results of a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 D (closed bottle test). After 28 days the degradation reached 81%.

Ready biodegradability was also determined for the read across substance Isostearic acid, esters with methyl α-D-glucoside in a test according to OECD 301 B. In this test biodegradation reached 76 % after 28 days.
