According to REACH Regulation (Annex IX, 9.4, column II), tests for Effects on terrestrial organisms do not need to be conducted as direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely.

Direct exposure of the soil compartment is excluded. Exposure via air is negligible as the vapour pressure of the test substance is very low and Stearic acid, esters with methyl α-D-glucoside entering the atmosphere any other way will be relative quickly photodegraded by reaction with OH radicals (see endpoint 5.1.1 Phototransformation in air). Indirect soil exposure via water is insignificant as the test substance is highly insoluble in water (see endpoint 4.8 Water solubility) and is readily biodegradable (see endpoint 5.2.1 Biodegradation in water).
