Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Since the substance is poor soluble in water the long-term toxicity testing on fish should be considered instead of short-term toxicity testing. Based on ECHA decision number CCH-D-2114552948-32-01/D, the Registrant agrees to perform long-term toxicity testing on fish, i.e. a study according to OECD TG 210(Fish, Early-Life Stage Toxicity Test).

Additional information

For the assessment of the acute toxicity of 2-ethyl-N,N-bis(2-ethylhexyl)hexylamine (CAS 1860-26-0) to fish experimental data are available.

In a non-GLP study conducted according to OECD Guideline 203 the 96-h LC50 was determined to be > 460 mg/L [nominal, BASF AG, 1985, rep. no.: 84/425]. Oncorhynchus mykiss was used as a test organism in this study. Moreover, a non-GLP study was conducted with the test item in accordance with DIN 38 412. In this static limit study Leuciscus idus was used as a test organism. The 96-h LC50 was determined to be > 10000 mg /L (nominal, BASF AG, 1988, rep. no.: 10F0647/875060). No analytical monitoring was performed.

However, in both studies no analytical measurements were performed due to the poor solubility of the substance and undissolved oily test substance was visible on the water surface.

Moreover, according to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.1.3, Column 2, the study on the short-term toxicity to fish does not need to be conducted if long-term aquatic toxicity study on fish is available.
