An appropriate structural analogue (3-methyl-5-(2,2,3-trimethylcyclopent-3-en-1-yl)pent-4-en-2-ol), tradename Ebanol, has been tested for ready biodegradability. It achieved >60% biodegradation after 28 days in the OECD 301F Manometric Respirometry test and is regarded as readily biodegradable.
The biodegradation of the target substance (Ebanone) and source substance (Ebanol) are anticipated to be similar due to their common carbon skeleton and expected common breakdown products (see read-across justification document in section 13 for more details). Therefore, Ebanone is also considered to be readily biodegradable.
