Description of key information

The densities of substances in this category were measured to be in the range 0.77 (C12) - 0.81 (C16) g/mL at 20°C.

A guideline study (Evonik Oxeno, 2008) is available. The density at 20°C of 97280-83-6 was measured as 0.77 g/mL. Supporting studies from Evonik (2008) for 97280-83-6 and Aqura (2006, 2007) for tetrabutene reported a density of 0.7736 g/cm3 and 0.8097, 0.8118 g/mL respectively.

These values are considered to be representative of the category.

New data areavilable for 5 streams in this category from Intertek (2018):

EC# 500-001-0_Intertek 2019_Key: 0.804 Kg/L at 15ºC.

EC# 500-004-7_Intertek 2019_Key: 0.8017 Kg/L at 15ºC

EC# 293-263-8_Intertek 2019_Key: 0.7629 Kg/L at 15ºC.

EC# 306-479-5_Intertek 2019_Key: 0.7718 Kg/L at 15ºC.

EC# 293-262-2_Intertek 2019_Key: 0.798 Kg/L at 15ºC.

The mean of the relative density values for the category is 0.7914 at20 °C and this has been used to complete the 'key value for chemical safety assessment'.
