Description of key information

The adsorption coefficient of test substance, 2-Ethylhexylal, on soil and on sewage sludge was estimated with the HPLC method (according to OECD TG 121 and GLP). Estimation of the adsorption coefficient (KOC) on soil and sewage sludge at given pH of mobile phase and set temperature:

log  Koc soil < 1.5 (-1.15 ± 0.62) (pH = 6.18, 25°C)

log  Koc sludge < 1.5 (-2.36 ±0.62) (pH = 6.18, 25°C)

The test substance was less retained on the column than any of reference standard. The results were obtained by extrapolation of the given calibration curve.

Since both values of log Koc on soil and sludge fall out of the recommended determinable range (1.5 to 5.0) which is in listed above quoted method C.19, the results are considered less reliable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
31.6
