Description of key information

According to point 9.5.1 in Annex X of REACH, long-term toxicity testing shall be proposed by the registrant if the results of the chemical safety assessment indicates the need to investigate further the effects of the substance and/or relevant degradation products on sediment organisms. The choice of the appropriate test(s) depends on the results of the chemical safety assessment.

According to point R.7.8.10.c of chapter 7b of ECHA guidance (2008), substances that are highly hydrophobic (log Kow >5) require sediment assessment even at tonnage below 1000T/year.

At this time, no PNEC water is available: a qualitative risk assessment has been performed and thus no PNEC sediment can be extrapolated.

The objective of the qualitative risk characterisation will be to assess the level of control over the risks generated by the substance. Operational conditions and risk management measures will be directed to minimise emissions and exposure to the environment.
