Results and discussion

In vivo

Irritant / corrosive response data:
One day after application of undiluted 3PN, 1/10 animal showed mild erythema.
No reactions were observed in the other animals of the 2 test groups (undiluted 3-PN or 43% of 3-PN in solution).
Other effects:
No data

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
not irritating
Remarks:
Migrated information Criteria used for interpretation of results: EU
Conclusions:
Under the test conditions, 3-Pentenenitrile is not classified as skin irritant according to the EU legislation (Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation 1272/2008/EC).
Executive summary:

In a dermal irritation study male albino guinea pigs (10/dose) were exposed to one drop of undiluted 3-Pentenenitrile or to a solution in 1:1 acetone-dioxane containing 13 % guinea pig fat (resulting concentration approx. 43 %). Animals were observed for 48 hours.

One day after application of undiluted 3PN, only one animal showed mild erythema. No reactions were observed in the other animals of the 2 test groups with undiluted 3 -PN or with a solution of 3 -PN (43%)

Under the test conditions and by weight of evidence with results of the acute dermal toxicity study, 3-Pentenenitrile is not classified as skin irritant according to the EU legislation (Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation 1272/2008/EC).
