Description of key information

1-Methylpyrrolidine was easily eliminated from water in an inherent biodegradation test (similar to OECD 302 B), but no biodegradation was observed on a study conducetd comparable to OECD Guideline 301F.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
inherently biodegradable

Additional information

To assess the biodegradability of the test substance, a study was conducted similar to the Zahn-Wellens inherent biodegradability test (OECD Guideline 302 B). The DOC removal was found to be >70 % and therefore it was concluded that the test substance can be easily eliminated from water.

In a second study conducted similar to OECD Guideline 301F, the BOD5/COD ratio of the test substance was found to be <1 %. This test result indicates that the substance is poorly biodegradable.
