Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

N-C16-C18-alkyl-(evennumbered, C18 unsaturated) propane-1,3-diaminium di[(9Z)-octadec-9-enoate] (CAS No. 1307863-78-0, old CAS No. 61791-53-5) does not meet the requirements for P/vP and B /vB based on criteria laid down in Annex XIII of REACH.

Persistence assessment

The persistence assessment is based on the screening criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation. The substance is considered to be readily biodegradable in a ready biodegradation test. Thus the substance is concluded to be not P/vP.

Bioaccumulation assessment

The bioaccumulation assessment is based on the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation. The calculated BCF of 70.8 L/kg is far below the criterium of BCF > 2000. A low bioaccumulation potential is also expected on the basis of the large molecular weight (MW > 800) reducing the ability to cross biological membranes. Therefore no further assessment on bioaccumulation is needed. The substance is concluded to be not B/vB.

Toxicity assessment

As the substance does not meet the criteria for being persistent/very persistent nor for being bioaccumulative/very bioaccumulative, no further assessment on toxicity is needed.

Likely routes of exposure:

Investigation of the likely routes of exposure is not needed as the substance is not PBT or vP/vB.
