Description of key information

The Henry's Law constant for diethyl sulphide has has been calculated to be 293.78 Pa/m3.mol.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

This equation for calculating the Henry's Law Constant is indicated in the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (IR & CSA) Chapter 16 "Environmental exposure estimate" (Equation R.16-10) and is therefore considered an appropriate technique. There are limitations design and reporting, but the calculated value is considered suitable for use for this endpoint.

This result indicates that diethyl sulphide is expected to volatilise rapidly from the aquatic environment.
