Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Zhang et al. 2010:
Particle size by sieving total sample, in cumulative passing weight units. Weight percentage of passing under 90 µm sieve: 7.3%
≤1 mm= 48.5 %
< 3 mm= 98.9%
< 5 mm= 100%

Particle distribution by laser diffraction of under 90 µm, in cumulative weight units:
1µm= 0.3 %
2µm= 3.1%
4µm= 7.7%
8µm= 12.3%
16µm= 18.6%
30µm= 30.5%
32µm= 32.4%
45µm= 45.5%
50µm= 50.5%
64µm= 63.9%
75µm= 72.9%
80µm= 76.4%
110µm= 91.0%
150µm= 98.6%

Additional information

The particle distribution measured by sieving total sample, in cumulative passing weight units is in the range from 48.5% ( ≤1 mm) to 100% (<5 mm). Weight percentage of passing under 90 microns sieve: 7.3%

The particle distribution by laser diffraction of under 90 µm, in cumulative passing weight units is in the range from 0.3% (1µm) to 98.6 % (150 µm). The difference in weight percentanges between values obstained by sieving and laser diffraction value is due to particle shape which is not spherical.
