Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The viscosity of DIDS was determined to be 41.77 mm2/s at 20 °C, 19.45 mm2/s at 40 °C and 4.72 mm2/s at 100 °C in a reliable study using standard method ASTM D-445 (INEOS Enterprises, 2013b, c).

Additional information

The viscosity of DIDS was determined to be 41.77 mm2/s at 20 °C, 19.45 mm2/s at 40 °C and 4.72 mm2/s at 100°C in a reliable study using standard method ASTM D-445 (INEOS Enterprises, 2013b,c).

Relevant read-across data:

Two studies using the same standard method (ASTM D-445) on DIDA found viscosities of 27 mm2/s at 20 °C, 14.1 mm2/s at 40 °C, and 3.6 mm2/s at 100 °C (INEOS Enterprises, 2009b), and 13.8 mm2/s at 40 °C and 3.5 mm2/s at 100 °C (Brassington, 2010c).

Similarly, when using the same method (ASTM D-445), viscosities of 23 mm2/s at 20 °C, 12 mm2/s at 40 °C, and 3.2 mm2/s at 100 °C were observed for DEHS (INEOS Enterprises, 2009b).

The similarity between viscosity values for DIDA and DEHS, and that seen for DIDS, supports the use of these compounds for read-across purposes.
