Description of key information

Dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate is classified as a peroxidetype F. Flammability is an intrinsic hazard in this class.

The Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) of the substances is 40°C (reference SADT: CLP regulations 2.15.2.3 and UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, 5th revised edition, sub-sections 28.1, 28.2, 28.3 and Table 28.3

Dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate is a white organicpowderwith afaintodour. So: The substance is not an aerosol or a gas.

Themelting rangeof dihexadecylperoxodicarbonate is 49°C - 57°C.

The relativedensityof dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate is 1.020 or 1.035, depending on the physical appearance (flakes/powder) and purity.

GranulometryLight microscopic examination revealed that both samples Dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate particles < 100 µm are non-fibrous.

Dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate FL ( flakes) consists of less than 1% w/w 100 µm particles. Consequently no PSD measurement of the fraction < 100 µm has to be performed .

Dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate L has 3.6 % m/m particles < 100 µm. This exceeds the 1% m/m threshold. The characteristics of the PSD of the fraction < 100 µm are: d10 36.4 µm d50 65.1 µm d90 97.3 µm From the whole product L 0.036% is < 10 µm and 0.0% is < 5 µm.

Thevapour pressureof dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate at 20°C is far below 0.01 Pa.

Thecalculated partition coefficientlog Kow of dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate  is 15.1 - 15.9 at 25°C. No experimental determination is possible.

Thewater solubilityat 20°C of dihexadecyl peroxodicarbonate is lower than 1 µg/L, the detection limit.

The substance hasno explosiveand nooxidisingproperties.

The study on corrosion towards metal is technically not feasible.
