Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a reverse gene mutation assay in bacteria (BASFAG.40M0455/914279 (1992)), 4 strains (TA98, TA100, TA1535 and TA1537) of S. typhimurium were exposed to 3-Aminopropoxy-2-ethoxy ethanol at concentrations of 20-5000 µg/plate in the presence and absence of mammalian metabolic activation and with and without preincubation.

3-Aminopropoxy-2-ethoxy ethanol was tested up to cytotoxic concentrations. The positive controls induced the appropriate responses in the corresponding strains. There was no evidence or a concentration related positive response of induced mutant colonies over background.

This study is reliable with restrictions as only 4 bacterial strains were tested and only 2 -Aminoanthracene (2AA) was used as positive control for metabolic activation.

Short description of key information:
AMES - negative - BASFAG.40M0455/814279 (1992)

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

DSD and CLP classification are not warranted for 3-Aminopropoxy-2-ethoxy ethanol.
