Experimental studies are available investigating the effects of Bis(2-(2-butoxyethoxy)ethyl) adipate (CAS 141-17-3) on three different trophic levels. All experimental studies were performed according to internationally accepted guidelines and GLP.
Freshwater fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) turned out to be the most sensitive species with a LC50 (96 h) of 13 mg/L followed by aquatic algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) with an ErC50 (72 h) of 37.6 mg/L and aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) with an EC50 (48 h) of 420 mg/L. For aquatic algae the chronic effects were investigated by the available study according to OECD 201.The EC10 (72 h) of 13.3 mg/L determined in the available study on aquatic algae was used for the chronic toxicity assessment. Long-term testing with aquatic invertebrates and fish was not considered to be relevant since the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 does not indicate the need for further investigations of aquatic toxicity.
