Description of key information

The lethal concentration (LC50) value of benzyl propionate in fish in a 14 day study on mortality effect was estimated to be 642.292 mg/. Based on this value and considering that benzyl propionate is readily bio-degradable in water it can be predicted that this chemical will not exhibit long term toxicity to fish.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The lethal concentration (LC50) value of benzyl propionate in fish in a 14 day study on mortality effect was estimated to be 642.292 mg/L Thus, considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance, it is concluded that benzyl propionate does not exhibit long term toxicity to fish.
