key study
Study period:
14th February 2010 to 18th February 2010
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
A non-GLP study performed to standardised guidelines with a sufficient level of detail to assess the quality of the submitted data.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases))
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: DIN 51794 Determination of Auto Ignition Temperature
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Auto-ignition temperature:
390 °C
Remarks on result:
other: The injected volume was 100 µL, ignition delay was 5 s.

Table 1: Results

   Injected sample amount
Temperature (ºC)  100 µL  200 µL  300 µL  400 µL  Ignition delay (s)
 320  -  -  -  -
 400  +        3
 390  +        5
 380  -  -  -  -

+: positive response (flame, blast or deflagration)

-: negative response (nothing or smoke only in a delay of 300 seconds)

Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study, the auto-ignition temperature of the test material was determined to be 390 ± 10 °C.
Executive summary:

In a non-GLP study conducted in line with EU Method A.15 and DIN 51794, the auto-ignition temperature of hexenyl-3-cis salicylate was determined in a SUR BERLIN oven. The lowest temperature giving a positive effect was 390°C; at a temperature of 380°C no ignition was observed. The auto-ignition temperature of the substance was determined to be 390 ± 10°C.

Description of key information

Auto-ignition temperature was determined to be 390 ± 10°C; study conducted in accordance with EU A.15, DIN 51794; Bolzonella (2011)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
390 °C

Additional information
