Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Experimental value of melting point: the test item didn't show a melting of crystalline subcomponents up to a temperature of 263 °C
Above 263 °C an exothermal effect was visible, probably due to evaporation or decomposition of the test item.
Transition temperatures were observed at 9 and 157°C (evaluated in the 2nd heating run). At these temperatures, the test item become more and more viscous but didn't melt.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
263 °C

Additional information

The determination of the melting temperature of the test item was performed by a Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) analysis in accordance with the test method A.1. "Melting/Freezing Temperature" as described in the Official Journal of the European Communities L383A and GLP. No deviation from the guidelines was observed during the test.

Before the determination of the melting point of the test item, the hardware check of the DSC apparatus has been carried out with references substances (Water deionised, Alumel foil, Nickel foil, Indium and Tin). The results obtains were conclusive with the theoretical results so the apparatus was considered acceptable for use.
