Additional information

As the test item is a surfactant product (surface tension : <60 mN/m), the shake flask and HPLC methods (EC A8) can’t be used. In this case, the partition coefficient is calculated by the ratio of solubilities of the test item in n-octanol and in water, determined with the flask method (OECD 105, EC A.6 and GLP). No deviation from the guidelines was observed in the study.

The water solubility of the test item was determined in the same experimental conditions as for the n-octanol solubility. The water solubility of the test item at 20°C is >350 g/l. The n-octanol solubility of the test item at 20°C is 17.93 g/l.

So the partition coefficient based on the ratio of these two solubility is:

Pow = (n-octanol solubility/ water solubility) = (17.93/350)=0.051

The log value is: -1.29
