Description of key information

Testing of the stability of the substance in organic solvents is not considered critical and hence not proposed.

According to column 1 of Annex IX (EU REACH), testing is required only if the stability of the substance is considered to be critical. Testing of the stability of the substance in organic solvents is not considered critical for the following reasons: 1) the substance does not contain organic solvents as manufactured. 2) the substance is not diluted or stored in organic solvents prior to use. 3) where relevant, checks on the stability of standards of the test substance in organic solvents is confirmed as part of routine analytical protocols to ensure confidence in study results. For instance, in the octanol-water partition coefficient, a stability test for the stock solutions of the substance in octanol were conducted as part of this test. The high substance recoveries obtained show that there had been no significant degradation of the stock solutions, in terms of concentration over the test period , and hence the n-octanol solutions used in the test were considered to have been stable for the duration of the test. Based on the above arguments, no separate stability test in organic solvents is considered necessary or proposed.
