Description of key information

Under the conditions of this study, the test material was determined not to have a flash point below its boiling temperature.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The key study was conducted in line with GLP and the standardised guideline EU Method A.9. It was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria detailed by Klimisch (1997).

The flash point of the test material was investigated using a closed cup flash point tester. The sample was heated and allowed to equilibrate at the set temperature. The test flame was introduced into the sample cup for approximately 2.5 seconds by sliding the cup shutter open and observations were made for ignition of the vapour. If no ignition occurred, the temperature was increased and the test flame re-introduced. This was repeated until the lowest reproducible temperature at which a flash occurred, using a fresh sample, was determined or until the test material boiled.

At all temperatures tested, no flash occurred and therefore no flash point value could be determined.

Under the conditions of this study, the test material was determined not to have a flash point below its boiling temperature.
