Additional information

Based on the results obtained from acetals, formaldehyde detection and ethanol detection, it can be stated that glycerol formal and other investigated acetals half-life at pH4, 7 and 9 and 25°C > 1 year. Those results are confirmed by a Klimisch code 4 study saying that no hydrolysis of GF to formaldehyde was observed after 7 days of incubation in a buffer at 37°C. The pKa of the substance corroborates those data.
