Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on the results of the documented QSAR predictions for each isomer, publicly available data, and the professional judgment of Molcode experts, the following conclusions were made.

It is considered that since the two isomeric compounds have been predicted to possess rather similar degradation/persistence properties, the particular composition of the mixtures within the range of the commonly commercially available ratio has virtually no effect on the overall persistence of the mixture. Therefore, the persistence: biotic degradation in water as the half-life value of glycerol formal is considered to be T(0.5)  200 h, corresponding to “not persistent” or “low persistence” depending on the scale used.
