Additional information

Data on the toxicity of the fluorescent whitening agents category to soil macroorganisms are available. These data substantiate that the LC50 values on the tested organisms were higher than 1000 mg/kg dry weight of soil nominal (CIBA-GEIGY 918024 (1991) and Solvias S12925 (1999)).

Furthermore, the acute aquatic toxicity assessment covering all trophic levels and two long term studies on daphnids reveal neither a need to classify the substances of the category as dangerous for the environment, nor are they PBT or vPvB substances. Based on these data, reading across, it is concluded that the risk to terrestrial organisms from the suibstance CAS 371756 -75 -1 is expected to be low.

Therefore, toxicity studies on soil microorganisms are not provided.
