Conclusion on classification

Based on the results of the acute toxicity to Daphnia study and the freshwater algal growth inhibition studies, methyl phenyl sulphide is classified as N - Dangerous for the environment with the risk phrases - "R51 - Toxic to aquatic organisms" and "R53 - May cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment" according to Directive 67/548/EEC.

It is classified as Chronic Category 4 with the hazard statement "H413 - May cause long lasting harmful effects to aquatic life." in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
