Additional information

Sodium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate is susceptible to fast degradation in air, in view of the photolytic dissipation half-life of the substance (106.7 hours). Sodium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate is rapidly dissociated in water, being 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid the main product. This substance was found to be hydrolytically stable at all pH conditions tested (1.2, 5, 7 and 9). The photolysis of the same substance in water resulted in dissipation half-lives of 103.7 and 541 days (direct photolysis, summer and winter conditions) and 23.1 days (indirect photolysis, summer conditions).
