Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, Annex X, Column 2, long-term toxicity testing shall be proposed if the results from the chemical safety assessment indicate the need to investigate further the effects of the test compound in sediment organisms. Sodium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate is highly soluble and it is rapidly dissociated in water, being 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (CAS No. 94-75-7) its main product. Therefore, a conclusion on this endpoint was drawn based on data from 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. Based on its Koc value (56), the adsorption potential of this substance to sediment particles is assumed to be low. Furthermore, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid is expected to be rapidly degraded in water/sediment systems, where a half-life of 29 days has been reported for this substance. Considering this information, long-term exposure and toxicity to sediment organisms is not expected and testing for this endpoint is not deemed necessary.
