LL/LC50 >LoS (WoE and expert judgement)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data are available for the short term toxicity to fish with Alcohols, C16-17, branched and linear. The short term toxicity to fish has been estimated by read-across and expert judgement to be above the limit of solubility (LoS). Alcohols, C16-17, branched and linear substance is made up of C16 and 17 branched and linear alcohols. Across the alcohols category it is possible to see from Table 1 that no short term toxicity is visible at the LoS for alcohols =C14. From Table 2, it is possible to see that for this endpoint the LC(LL)50 values are not achieved for Alcohols,C14-15, branched and linear. Since the water solubility decreases with increasing chain length, also for UVCB alcohols in table 2, it is safe to predict that the LC(LL)50 would not be achieved at the LoS.

Table 1. Estimated acute toxicity to algae for essentially pure commercial products (using expert judgment where no data are available).
