Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The surface tension of test substance was: s = 70.2 mN/m (at a concentration of about 0.1%).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
70.2
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:

Additional information

The purpose of this study was to determine the surface tension of aqueous solutions of test item DL-Panthenol.

The determination of the surface tension was accomplished by means of a tensiometer, using the ring method. The force which was required to withdraw a horizontally suspended ring from the surface of the solution is measured.

The surface tension of test substance was: s = 70.2 mN/m (at a concentration of about 0.1%).

Based on the criteria as outlined in the EEC Guideline and on the results of this study, DL-Panthenol has to be considered as a not surface active substance.
