The static (kinematic) viscosity of the test item was determined at 40 and 100 °C according to the ASTM D445 protocol (non-GLP). The company data are considered adequate, sufficiently documented and valid for assessment. The applied test protocol specifies a procedure for the determination of the kinematic viscosity, of liquid petroleum products, both transparent and opaque, by measuring the time for a volume of liquid to flow under gravity through a calibrated glass capillary viscometer.
The dynamic (absolute) viscosity can be obtained by multiplying the static (kinematic) viscosity by the density of the liquid.
The static (kinematic) viscosity was determined to be 21 and 5.4 mm²/s or centistokes at 40 and 100 °C respectively. The conversion using the density value of 910 kg/m³ reveals the dynamic (absolute) viscosity to be 19 and 4.9 mPa∙s at 40 and 100 °C, respectively.

Experimental company data on the viscosity of the submission item are available. The static (kinematic) viscosity has been determined at 40 and 100 °C according to the ASTM D445 protocol (non-GLP). The conversion to the dynamic (absolute) was made by multiplication with the density value 910 kg/m³ from Fox & White (2012, Harlan Report no. 41103263).
The standard testing requirement has been adapted in accordance with REACH Annex XI, 1.1.1 (Official Journal of the European Union 30.12.2006, p L 396/371) as the existing measurement seems adequate, sufficiently documented and valid. Measurement according to OECD TG 114 (1981) at 20 °C seems technically not feasible due to the viscous state of the submission item at this temperature. Thus such determination could be waived in accordance with Annex XI, 2 (Official Journal of the European Union 30.12.2006, p L 396/378) as measurement in accordance with the method is technically not feasible. The submission item is considered to behave at environmental conditions comparable to a solid with the consequence that rapid penetration into the soil is not probable.
