Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

In a recent (Pelcot 2009) Guinea pig sensitisation study (OECD 406, Magnusson and Kligman), 1,1,1-trichloroethane (not stabilized) was used in the challenge phase at a concentration of 50 % (w/w); a positive skin reaction was recorded in 3/20 guinea pigs. The test substance was classified as a non-sensitiser to the skin.

Justification for classification or non-classification

1,1,1 -trichloroethane has been evaluated in an OECD 406 Guinea pig sensitisation study and found to be non-sensitizer. It therefore does not warrent classification.
