Description of key information

Skin sensitiser

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

Based on the results of a Magnusson & Klingman Maximisation Test, the test substance showed an extreme grade of skin-sensitising (contact allergenic) potential in albino guinea pigs. 100% of the animals were sensitised by the test substance under the experimental conditions employed.

Therefore, according to EU criteria, the substance is sensitising for skin.

Respiratory sensitisation

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the CLP Regulation (EC )1272/2008, skin sensitiser means a sustance that will lead to an allergic response following skin contact. Substances shall be classified as skin sensitisers (Category 1):

a) if there is evidence in humans that the substance can lead to sensitisation by skin contact in a substantial number of persons; or

b) if there are positive results from an appropriate animal test (e.g. Local lymph node assay, Guinea pig maximisation test, Buehler assay)

Based on the available data, a classification as Skin Sens. 1 (H317) according to CLP criteria set out in Regulation 1272/2008 is proposed for the substance.
