Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The partition coefficient n-octanol/water of 2-methylbutyl acrylate was determined to be 2.90 ± 0.05 at 20 °C using OECD 107 “Partition Coefficient (n-Octanol/water): Shake Flask Method” conducted under GLP.

Additional information

The partition coefficient n-octanol/water of 2-MBA was measured according to OECD 107 “Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water): Shake Flask Method” and was conducted under GLP. 2-MBA was shaken in octanol/water mixture ratios of 1:5, 1:10 and 1:20 at 20 °C for approximately 23 hours to allow equilibrium partition between the two phases. The aqueous and n-octanol phases were separated by centrifuging and transferred to individual vials. 2-MBA in octanol phase was analyzed using GC-MS, and 2-MBA in aqueous phase was analyzed using LC-MS/MS. The log Pow for 2-MBA was determined to be 2.90 ± 0.05. For read-across purposes, nBA has a comparable log Kow of 2.38 at 25 °C originating from a study report considered reliable with restrictions.
