Description of key information
Calcium Stannate is not an oxidising solid in sense of the test method A.17 "Oxidising Properties (Solids)", Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Oxidising properties:
- no
Additional information
The method UN-Test O.1 was used to investigate the oxidising properties of Calcium Stannate. This method is designed to measure the potential for a solid substance to increase burning rate or burning intensity of a combustible substance, when the two are thoroughly mixed. The sample was used as received. On the basis of this key test results and according to the criteria specified in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria the substance "Calcium Stannate" (1123/260710/01) does not met the criteria of Division 5.1 because the mean burning times of the 4 : 1 and 1 : 1 sample-to-cellulose ratio (by mass) are greater than the mean burning time of the 3 : 7 mixture (by mass) of potassium bromate and cellulose. On the basis of the test results and according to the criteria specified in the CLP-/ GHS Regulation the substance "Calcium Stannate" (1123/2607/10/01) is not an oxidising solid. Based on the experience of BAM with similar substances the substance "Calcium Stannate" (1123/260710/01) is also not an oxidising solid in sense of the test method A.17 "Oxidising Properties (Solids)", Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the results, there is no need for classification.
