Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results and discussion

Results of examinations

Details on results:
CLINICAL SIGNS AND MORTALITY
Survival rates at four day intervals up to 28 days: see Table 1
Phenylhydrazine, administered daily in drinking water exert a stronger toxic effect in male mice compared to female mice. Whereas no female mice died up to 28 days, male mice died between 4 and 28 days of treatment. Only one male of 4 males survived.

BODY WEIGHT AND WEIGHT GAIN
Decreased substantially; the decrease in body weight was the most pronounced at one week after the application of chemicals followed by a gradual increase.

WATER CONSUMPTION AND COMPOUND INTAKE (if drinking water study)
In the phenylhydrazine treated groups the animals consumed 30% less than in the corresponding untreated controls.

HISTOPATHOLOGY: NON-NEOPLASTIC
Pheylhydrazine caused congested lungs. In addition, slight fatty degeneration in the liver was observed.
