Description of key information

The test susbatnce is acutely harmful to aquatic algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a 72 hour acute toxicity study, the cultures of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata were exposed to the test item at nominal concentrations of 10.0, 13.2, 17.1, 22.3 and 29.0 mg/L under static conditions in accordance with the OECD guideline 201 (2006)

(Institute of Industrial organic Chemistry Branch Pszczyna, 2012). The stability and concentrations were verified by chemical analysis (97.31 – 99.53 % of nominal at 0 h; 95.52 – 100.07 % of

nominal at 72 h). Based on the nominal concentrations of the test item, the inhibition of algae growth rate resulted in a ErC50 (72 h) of 27.21 mg/L, whereas the inhibition of algae yield resulted in a EyC50 (72 h) of 18.37 mg/L.

Therefore, the test substance is acutely harmful to aquatic algae.
