Description of key information

No mutagenic effect of 3,5,5 trimetylhexanoyl chloride was observed in bacterial mutagenicity testing to OECD guideline 471.

Additional information

Ames:

3,5,5 trimethylhexanoyl chloride was tested in the standard plate test and in the preincubation test with and without metabolic activation in S. typhimurium TA98, TA100, TA1535, TA1537 and E. coli WP2 uvrA at dose levels of 20 -5000 and 60 - 1000 µg/plate, respectively. The study was conducted according to the OECD Guidelines 471 and is reliable without restrictions. No precipitatian of the test substance was found. A bacteriotoxic effect was observed under all test conditions. An increase in the nuinber of his+ or trp+ revertants was not observed in the standard plate test or in the preincubatian test either without S-9 mix or after the addition of a metabolizing system.

The test substance is not mutagenic in the Salmonella typhimurium/Escherichia cali reverse mutation assay under the experimental conditians chosen here.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification suggested for mutagenicity as criteria of regulations 1272/2008/EC are not met.
